Overview
The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Assam, has announced the Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship schemes for the 2026-2027 academic session. This centrally sponsored initiative provides financial support to eligible students belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and DNT/S-NT communities. By offering academic allowances, the scheme aims to encourage educational attainment for students pursuing studies from Class IX through post-matriculation levels. Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be Indian nationals belonging to OBC, EBC, or DNT/S-NT categories.
- For Pre-Matric scholarships, students must be enrolled full-time in Class IX or X in Government schools.
- Parental or guardian annual income from all sources must not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakhs, verified by a Circle Officer.
- Scholarship benefits are limited to two boys per family; this restriction does not apply to girl students.
Salary / Financial Benefits
- Pre-Matric Scholarship: A consolidated academic allowance of Rs. 4,000 per annum.
- Post-Matric Scholarship: Financial support provided for the complete duration of the course as per scheme guidelines.
Selection Process
- Submission of online application via the National Scholarship Portal.
- Verification of documents and eligibility at the Institute level.
- Disbursement of scholarship funds directly to the student's bank account via DBT mode.
