ℹ How 7th CPC salary is built up
Your monthly salary starts from the Basic Pay in the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix for your level. On top of it come allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA) as a percentage of basic (revised every six months), House Rent Allowance (HRA) based on your city class (X 30%, Y 20%, Z 10% once DA crosses 50%), and Transport Allowance (TA).
Gross salary = Basic + DA + HRA + TA (with DA on TA). Your in-hand salary is the gross minus deductions — most importantly NPS at 10% of (Basic + DA) for those under the National Pension System, plus professional tax and any other recoveries.
