The Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award 2026 is a flagship initiative implemented under the Pragyan Bharati Scheme by the Higher Education Department, Assam, to encourage academic excellence among Higher Secondary students. Eligible meritorious students who secure the prescribed marks in the ASSEB Higher Secondary Examination 2026 are awarded a two-wheeler scooty or equivalent financial support to help them pursue higher education. Managed by the Directorate of Higher Education, Assam, this application-based program is open to both boys and girls who meet the residency and academic criteria.

Eligibility Criteria

• Students must obtain 80% or more marks in the Higher Secondary Final Examination, 2026 conducted by the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB).
• Students in betterment and reappearance categories are not eligible for the scheme.
• Applicants must be permanent residents of the State of Assam.
• Students admitted to educational institutions outside Assam are eligible provided they hold a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) of Assam.
