Eligibility Criteria

• Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Programme: Freshers (Law Graduate) or freshers enrolled as an advocate with a State Bar Council having 0 to 2 years of experience, with an ability to commit to a full six-month tenure including in-person intensive blocks at NLUJA, Assam.
• Lawyer Fellowship Programme (LFP): Enrolled as an advocate with a State Bar Council with 2 to 5 years of continuous practice as on the last date for applications, currently practising in Assam.
• LFP candidates must have proven engagement in trial or lower-court litigation, legal aid, or rights-based/community work, along with the capacity to independently manage legal-aid cases, mentor junior lawyers, and commit to a one-year tenure involving district placement and in-person blocks.

Selection Process

• Submission of the complete application dossier including a self-authored writing sample and a statement of purpose via the official email address.
• Shortlisting based on prior commitment to legal aid, rights-based advocacy, or community engagement.
• Two-stage interview process consisting of one online round and one in-person round.

Documents Required

• A statement of purpose (500-800 words) detailing the motivation for the training and expected achievements.
• A self-authored writing sample such as a pleading, legal opinion, article, or note with all client-identifying details anonymised.
• A short anonymised case history of matters handled.
• Curriculum vitae, Bar enrollment certificate if available, law degree, and a government photo ID.
• Category or disability certificates, if applicable.
• Contact details for two referees who can speak to practice and character.
